Matt Goldich launches Twitter talk show

As if you needed another reason to leave Facebook — with all of it’s unnecessary changes — Twitter, in addition to being mostly non-invasive, now has its own talk show. Former writer for the Late Show with David Letterman and the Ellen DeGeneres Show Matt Goldich (@MattGoldich) has actually formed an entertaining and insightful weekly talk show complete with all the conventions of the traditional live taped versions.

He has own theme by @stuckeymurray, interviews famous guests including @pftompkins (Paul F. Tompkins), @PaulScheer, @DougBenson, as well as featuring “stand-up” from some of the funniest people both on stage and on Twitter. Featuring the talents of @theJamieLee, @MyqKaplan, @NikkiGlaser, and @MrSeanPatton who have all performed on actual TV, Matt has them tweet their jokes at him and for the rest of Twitter to see. Also, Goldich has the traditional opening monologue, which arguably, most of the time, could be tweet-able anyhow and the serendipitous luxury of being able to have any band “play” his show (like Wilco) or “have” any sponsor play ads in between segments.

Overall, it’s a bold and innovative move on the part of Goldich to translate the talk show format onto a microblogging site and, as toungue-in-cheek as it may be, he pulls it off surprisingly well– and it’s still only its “first season.” Goldich committing fully to the idea has definitely shown the more enlightened side of Twitter, which is why you should tune in to @MattGoldich every Wednesday at 7 pm ET/4 pm PT. As fan @DaveZula said, “@MattGoldich’s Twitter Talk Show is my new favorite thing. I can’t wait to get the whole season on Word doc.”

So here is some semi-exciting news. I am going to be hosting my own talk show…sort of.

Next week will be the debut of the Matt Goldich Twitter Talk Show. It’s a full half-hour talk show that will take place entirely in the form of 140-character Tweets. Just like on a regular talk show, there will be an opening monologue, comedy bits, interviews and guest performers. And maybe some surprises! (Note: there also may not be any surprises.)

For the first episode of the show I’ll be interviewing the great Doug Benson. There will also be a “stand-up” performance from the hilarious Myq Kaplan.

Please tune in live on Wednesday, September 7 at 7pm Eastern/4pm Pacific. Just head to www.twitter.com/mattgoldich and follow along with the action. I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun.
